Techneverends - Facebook's parent company, Meta Platforms Inc, will ask some of their users for help to provide feedback regarding the new features embedded in the Facebook feed. It is known that with this feature, users can later choose what they like and don't enjoy from the appearance of their feed.
Meta carried out this development as a more comprehensive effort to compete with TikTok. As we know, currently, TikTok shows posts of people who are not followed on the user's feed page.

Improving Content Quality
Users will see "Show more" and "Show less" buttons on posts that appear on their feed. That way, users directly tell Facebook that the posts they see are posts they like and don't like. Reportedly, Facebook will use this feedback to improve the quality of content in their users' feeds and provide new posts or videos from other users according to their interests and content.
Meta has personalized feeds for Facebook and Instagram users. Personalization is based on users' actions when they like posts or follow other users. But it seems that the impact of these "Show more" and "Show less" functions will be immediate and temporary.
Will be seen After One or Two Months
According to Facebook's Head of Core App, Tom Allison. Allison said that when the user presses the additional button, the algorithm running within Facebook will work for about one to two months, allowing Facebook to display posts from other people on the user's feed based on the information of interest.
Allison added that Facebook sees this as a signal from Facebook users and recommendations that the teams are currently taking time to develop further. Allison also added a statement to tell Facebook, "How do you feel about the content that appears on the Facebook feed at this time?".
This Applies to Posts with Ad Formats
Additionally, the "Show more" and "Show less" options are rumored to only appear on some posts and will also work on ad formats. Allison explained, "The addition of this button is not designed for display ads, but users can apply these controls to ads. Again, it's about providing a relevant experience to our users."
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg once said that improving the Discovery page is Meta's main focus right now. As we know, this is the primary key for their competitor TikTok in building user engagement. It is known that Meta has done a lot of experimentation and spent a lot of time and resources trying to develop a similar video product, namely Reels, with a short video format that it claims will compete with TikTok.
Interesting, right? If you are one of the users asked to use this feature, are you interested in using it?
